Bunker Hill was a very big event in the revolutionary war, the odds were against the Americans. The British had 2,400 men while the Americans had only 1,500. The battle took place on Breed's hill north of the Boston Harbor. The first attack was repelled and so was the second attack. But on the third attack the British broke through the American lines and the Americans retreated. The Battle of Bunker Hill was considered the turning point in the war and it was in the American's favor. The British suffered heavy losses each attack that is why it was a turning point. It demoralized the British and they lost a lot of men, 1,054 men were lost all together. The Americans only had 145 fatalities. From then the British began to lose more and more battles until the end of the war. Here is a video of what it might of looked like:

Hey Nick,
ReplyDeleteI have always heard about Bunker Hill, but never in this much detail. It was actually really fun to read it. I like how you are mentioning the numbers of men that died, and the number of troops. The video was really cool, because I got to see what it would have looked like, while a narrator was telling me what was happening. My only question, if the American's retreated, then why was the war in their favor? Thanks for sharing,
Tilde
The Americans retreated but only after they had killed 1,054 British soldiers. So the British won but at a great cost so it was considered a "victory" for the Americans.
DeleteHi Nick,
ReplyDeleteLike the way you put a lot of info about the actual battle. I have a few questions. How long was each attack and how much time was between each attack? Did all of the Americans that were in that battle die, or some get away? And last, do you know how the British mistake the Breed's Hill for the Bunker's hill? I know that the British had a map, but were the map inaccurate, or the person looking at the map read incorrectly? This post was really interesting!
Keep posting!

Hi Shiny, to answer your first question I do not know how long the attacks were or how much time was between each attack. About 145 Americans were killed in the battle, but the other ones escaped.
DeleteHey Nick,
ReplyDeleteI really like the topic you chose about. You really seem to know about what you are talking about. Did you have fun researching this topic? It seems really interesting to learn about a battle where the losing side wins unexpectedly.
