The microscope was invented around 1590. Zaccharias Janssen and his son Hans Janssen were two dutch eyeglass makers in 1590 and after experimenting with multiple lenses they found that the objects were getting bigger.
(In 1284 an Italian inventor named Salvino D'Armate invented the first wearable eyeglasses.)
In the 18th century the microscope was popular to scientists. Lenses combining two types of glass which reduced the chromatic effect. in 1830 Joseph Jackson Lister came up with the chromatic effect he proved that several weak lenses could be put together together at certain distances and it gives a good magnification without blurring the image.
