The Winter Olympics just finished but in the next Summer Olympics, I
think they should revive Tug of War so it can be an event again. Let’s
begin by talking about the rules of Tug of War. When competing in Tug
of War you have a rope and in the middle, it’s marked red. From either
side of the red mark, it is 13 feet away there is a white line on the
ground. In order to win you need to make sure that the red middle line
crosses over your own white line by pulling. You can have a maximum of
8 people on your team pulling. These people have to be under a certain
amount of weight chosen by the category. There are referees and they
can call three different commands. The three commands are “pick up the
rope,” “take the string” and “pull” to start the round. This
competition could take place with the track and field events like it
used to in 1900-1920 Olympics. Tug of War is like any other sport, why
can’t it be in the Olympics? Tug of War is just another sport for
working on teamwork and synchronization. If you are not synchronized
then your team won’t be as strong pulling the rope. It also helps you
gain teamwork because of that. These are the reasons I think Olympics
should bring back Tug of War.
Isabella Johnson- You seem really passionate in your writing, and it makes it really interesting to read. Do you know why Tug of War was taken out of the Olympics?

DeleteThank you for reading my blog post. I am pretty sure that it was taken out because it was not very popular. But peoples opinions may have changed since then.

Dear Isabella Johnson,
ReplyDeleteI liked how you explained that Tug of War should be treated like any other sport. One question I have is; Is there a minimum weight you have to be in order to participate?
Sincerely,
Purplesealsonpluto
Dear Purplesealsonpluto,
DeleteI have no idea the answer to your question. But that you for your comment.
-Isabella Johnson
Hi Isabella Johnson,
ReplyDeleteI think that it was really interesting when you mentioned the fact that you have to be sychronized to play Tug of War, I never thought of it that way! Do you like to play Tug of War?
-Sincerely,
Chopsticks
Dear Chopsticks,
DeleteThank you for commenting. I myself have never actually played tug of war in a competitive league but have in PE when I was young.
-Isabella Johnson
Dear Isabella Johnson,
ReplyDeleteI really like that you chose this as a topic to write about, but why did you chose this? And your right, why can't it be in the Olympics?

DeleteThank you for reading my blog post! I choose to write about tug of war because I was fascinated with tug of war since I didn't know a lot about it.
-Isabella Johnson
Dear Isabella Johnson,
ReplyDeleteI loved hearing about tug of war. I didn't know all those things about tug of war. I was wondering, Have you ever played tug of war? Do you personally enjoy the sport or just think it would be cool to have in the Olympics?
from,
Firecracker169
Dear firecracker169,
DeleteThank you for commenting. I have never played tug of war in a league but have when I was younger. I just think it would be cool if it was in the olympics.
-Isabella Johnson
Hey Isabella Johnson,
ReplyDeleteI loved how in this blog post you talked not just about why there should be tug of war in the Olympics but you also talked about how it would be played, I think it is nice that you included that because then people can get an idea of what it would be like. Would you do it if it were in the Olympics?
Sincerely,
LoveAndGelato
Dear LoveAndGelato,
DeleteThank you for commenting. I honesty don't think I would play tug of war in the Olympics. The reasoning is because I don't think that I am the right body type for tug of war. I am not that strong in the arms department.
-Isabella Johnson
Dear Isabella Johnson,
ReplyDeleteI like how you talked about how Tug of War used to be in the Olympics, because I didn't know that. If this were in the Olympics would it be your favorite sport to watch?

-Isabella Johnson
Dear Isabella Johnson,
ReplyDeleteThis blog post was really interesting, because it talked about bringing back something that happened in the past. Do you think that if Tug of War should be in the Olympics then other "games", such as bowling, should also be included? Why or why not?
Thanks,

DeleteDear Soccer4Life4415,
DeleteThank you for reading. Your question really got me thinking. I think that some games should be added in to the Olympics like maybe bowling. But why I think that Tug of War should be added more then some of the other sports is that it used to be in the Olympics.
-Isabella Johnson
Dear Isabella Johnson,
ReplyDeleteI never knew that tug a war used to be an Olympic sport. I enjoyed learning about the different rules of the sport. I’m not sure though that the tug of war would be a good sport for people like me. Do you think that it would be more entertaining if there was a big mud pit in the middle that the losing team would fall into? Just something for the next Olympic committee to consider.

Dear Isabella Johnson,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed how you talked about not just the rules of Tug of War but you also talked about the strategy of Tug of War like being synchronized. Have you ever played tug of war? If you have do you think you would be good enough to make in the Olympics if Tug of war was an olympic sport?
From,

Dear soccer lover 5555,
DeleteI have never played tug of war competitively. I do not think I would ever be strong enough to go to the Olympics for any sport that has a lot arm strength in it.
-Isabella Johnson
Isabella Johnson, I really enjoyed reading this article. I thought it was very interesting. I like how you described the rules of tug of war, and how you put in your own opinion of how it should be in the olympics. If it used to be in the Olympics, why did the take it out?
ReplyDelete-Pemma
Dear Pemma?
DeleteThank you for reading my blog. I think it was taken out because it was not popular. But why I think it should be put back in the the Olympics is because maybe some peoples interest could change.
-Isabella Johnson
dear Isabella Johnson,
ReplyDeleteI think that it is a great idea to add a new sport to the Olympic Games. Your blog filled me of thoughts of what other sport that we could add to the games. How many people do you think would take this sport over other sports? When was the first time you have played tug of war.
- Socks
Dear socks,
DeleteI honestly do not know the answer to your first question. But the first time I played tug of war was probably when I was a little kid. I think there was a kindergarten Olympics (not all the sports we played were in the Olympics) and that was the first time.
-Isabella Johnson
