Pavo--Not just a dog

Pavo

When I was in first grade, my family and I used to dog-sit Pavo. At that time, he was just a dog of a friend of my moms, but now he is so much more. The man who owned Pavo, who told us he got Pavo to attract people, was moving to China. He told us that we could keep him or give him to another home, but he didn't think it was fair to take Pavo somewhere that he couldn't get the attention he needed. Since we got him, he has proven to be a loud, mischievous, grumpy, and crazy dog. Even though he has many little quirks, I love him to the moon and back again.

My sister, Emily, and I begged to be able to keep Pavo. We used our puppy dog eyes, our frowny faces, and even a few begging tears were shed, and our efforts payed off, because Pavo is here cuddling on my lap as I write.
Pavo was the small, cuddly, loyal dog I had always wanted. I had two other dogs who were plenty loyal and cuddly, but their cuddles knocked me down, because they were most definitely not small. Pavo's cuddles don't knock me down, they make me feel warm and cozy inside, knowing that he loves me as much as I love him.
Pavo has been there for me since we got him. Whenever I am stressed about having a test, or having to write an essay, or about a volleyball tournament I have, he is always there for me. He will sit in my lap and cuddle until I am finally calm enough to actually prepare for the thing I am stressing about. Whenever I am sad or mad, he is always cuddling in my lap, using his affective puppy-dog eyes to tell me everything is okay. Whenever I get hurt, he always lays his head on me, but he never hurts me more. Dogs are smart that way, they know what to do and when to do it. They know how to express their love toward their owners.
Unconditional, forever, powerful. Those are some words I would use to describe my love for Pavo, and his love for me. He knows I am the one to come to when he is in trouble, because he is a smart dog and he knows that I can never be mad at him for more than five minutes. He is my little chihuahua with a powerful bark, and I am his owner and friend.
To the moon and back goes my love for him.

  4. Hi Jane,
I love how you talk about when you got Pavo. I can tell you have a strong connection with him. I was wondering if you have any other pets? and if so what are there names. Is your strongest connection with Pavo out of all your pets if you have any other pets.

  5. Dear Jane,
I love Pavo so much and he is one of my little brothers and he always greets me or tries be picked up. I remember when we were in the car and your mom said that the guy that had the dog only used him to attract other guys and I found it interesting that instead of giving it back to a pound he gave Pavo to the most wonderful dog loving family I know. I love the part about cuddling and how he makes everyone happy around him because whenever we r sleeping or watching a movie Pavo will somehow come in the bed or under the blankets and lay right on top of your chest<3. I wanted to know what are some annoying qualities about Pavo that I may not know yet?
    Love,
    Ellie

  6. Dear Jane,

I really like how you talk about Pavo and his quirks, but you still love him so much. Your story for how you got Pavo was really funny, interesting, and amazing. You said you had two other dogs, what were their names? How long have you had Pavo? What's one of Pavo's characteristics that you love the most?

  9. Jane,
This is so cute. I love Pavo, even though he is a vicious chihuahua who bites people in the mouth :))))). He is so cute and sweet and love that little dude. How old was Pavo when you got him?

This is so sweet!! I totally didn't know that you guys adopted Pavo, that was really cool to find out. I also loved when you talked about how dogs know the right thing to do and when to do it, I think that's one of the best parts of owning a dog (even though I've never had one :( ) I also loved the words you used to describe your love for him (It reminded me of the concentrated lady at the end of Nia ;) ) How old is Pavo? Will he ever grow any bigger?
